This book examines the means of control of acquisition and merger activity available to the Community's institutions, expecially Regulation 4064/89. The text also considers in detail the Commission's implementing Regulation and Guidelines. The authors describe the context in which mergers take place and introduce the issues of economic and legal policy raised by the idea of merger control at supra-national level. They also look at the procedural requirements and the division of jurisdiction between national and EEC authorities. Also included is the text of Regulation 4064/89 and Regulation 2367/90, the Guideline on Concentrative and Cooperative Operations and the Guideline on Ancillary Restrictions.
