This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-proceedings of the First International Workshop on Business Intelligence for the Real-Time Enterprise, BIRTE 2006, held in Seoul, Korea in September 2006 in conjunction with VLDB 2006, the International Conference on Very Large Data Bases. The 12 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in the book.
