Anotace
The exhibition catalogue presents one of the most well-known graphic artists in pre-war Berlin who is almost forgotten today. Michel Fingesten (1884–1943) was born in Northern Moravia. During his art studies in Vienna and Munich he travelled across America and Asia. In 1911 he was briefly in Paris, later settling in Berlin, where he began to focus intensively on graphic art. He soon became a well-known artist, and his works were acclaimed for their originality. In 1933, Fingesten moved to Milan, where he produced work that reflected ironically on the Nazi regime in Germany. Being of Jewish descent, he was sent to Italian internment camps.
