Anotace
The "Longman Dictionary Skills Handbook" is an illustrated write-in workbook for use in conjunction with the "Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English". It contains many activities aimed at advanced learners of English, and is designed to give practice in finding and using the full range of information given in the "Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English". The handbook is divided into eight units, including an introduction with simple preliminary exercises and a final round-up test section. Each of the remaining units takes a separate area, such as grammar, meaning, pronunciation, or vocabulary building, and gives an explanation of how information on these subjects is shown in LDOCE. Explanations are followed by a range of exercises designed to motivate students to develop both their dictionary skills and their use of English. The material has been piloted at the centre for Applied Language Studies at Reading University.
