Anotace
What are the issues facing the international community as it seeks to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons? In this account, the author assesses the performance of the Nuclear Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and the nuclear export controls intended to stop the dissemination of nuclear armaments. The book questions conventional policy alternatives such as disarmament, an end to nuclear testing and the use of sanctions and proposes two altenatives to nuclear proliferation which take account of the fundamental motives for nuclear weapons holding - security assurances and education as to the disadvantages of proliferation.
