Anotace

The monograph deals with the formation of modern agriculture business structures in terms of company size. It focuses in the definition of the typical characteristics, factors and relationships business development, and business structures in the current conditions of dynamic changes in agriculture, in both global and regional context. In the theoretical section, it evaluates approaches to anderstatnding the enterprise and its boundaries, defines critical socio-economic and political factors and processes affecting the formation of the size structure of farms. Also adresses the potential consequences following criteria oriented agrarian policy. It evaluates basic trends in size structure of agricultural holdings in the EU countries, including business structures comparisons of developments in the old and new EU members states. For objectification purposes of the overall assessment, the results of analysis of developments in the size of farms in the U.S. are presented here as well. The conclusion reflects on the role of the size of the enterprise in primary production in contemporary agribusiness and the adequacy of its use in the CAP strategies.
