Anotace
One of the most important sectors in the Slovak economy is the healthcare sector. Itsimportance lies not only in its contribution to the economy but also in performing the basic setof functions each society needs. This publication presents research outcomes from the field ofhealthcare assessment, restricted to limited areas of the evaluation. Presented health careevaluation is a critical assessment, through rigorous processes, of an aspect of healthcare toassess whether it fulfils its objectives. The research conducted is trying to follow three criteriafor evaluating health care systems: efficiency, effectiveness, and equity. Evaluation is anessential part of quality improvement and when done well, it can help solve problems, informdecision making and build knowledge. While evaluation comes in many shapes and sizes, itskey purpose is to help to develop a deeper understanding of how best to improve health care.
