Anotace
In order to analytically measure soil parameters, soil laboratories all over Germany, including those of the State Surveys, use a wide range of different analytical procedures. When selecting procedures on the basis of the most widely used methods, the Soils Working Group has attempted prioritize the methods without leaving less used methods unconsidered. Therefore alternative procedures for the determination of some soil characteristics are documented so that the large amounts of data in the databases of the Soil Information Systems are homogeneous and may be compared in the future. This is necessary, independently of the need to harmonize analytical procedures on a European scale. This documentation of laboratory methods contains more than just descriptions of the relevant analytical procedures. The non-analyst, for example, can obtain a brief description of each method without getting lost in details. The analyst may obtain a better understanding of the possible applications of individual methods. Restrictions of use and sources of uncertainty are indicated It should be noted that the methods base cannot, and is not meant to, replace a laboratory-specific description of the methods required for accreditation or GLP licensing.
