Anotace
This is one of the first introductions at the undergraduate level to the techniques and applications of combinatorial optimization. The approach is concrete, with emphasis on plausibility and clarity of exposition. A unique feature is the development of formulations and methods for problems in car pooling, facilities layout, and molecular evolution, which have never appeared in before in book form. These and the other models and algorithms are explained in intuitive, rather than highly technical, language with illustrative numerical examples.
