Anotace
Skin biopsies form a major part of the work of any general histopathology service and present many diagnostic problems. The book is aimed at those pathologists and dermatologists who have to make a diagnosis based on small pieces of biopsy material. This is a practical bench book containing hundreds of photographs. It is intended for use in interpreting biopsies of common and uncommon conditions. The book places a great deal of emphasis on the more common skin conditions likely to present to the general pathologist as biopsies. The importance of an accurate differential diagnosis and the provision of clinically relevant biopsy reports passed on from the pathologist to the dermatologist, are highlighted. Methods of skin biopsy and the reasons for their use are described by a dermatologist. Also covered are the therapeutic options the dermatologist is faced with after receiving the pathologist's report. Other areas included in the book are the use of immunochemistry in diagnostic dermatopathology and the problems of tropical disease presenting in temperate climes. The majority of the illustrations are from cases examined recently in a district laboratory. This book should be of interest to pathologists, dermatologists.
