Anotace
Rediscovering Masculinity takes stock of prevailing conceptions of masculinity. Victor Seidler argues that masculinity has historically been identified with reason, and femininity with emotion. Over the centuries this has habituated men to speaking for others before learning to speak for themselves. Seidler uses some of the leading positions in social theory to expose the main contradictions in received ideas of power, language, and sexuality.
