In this dictionary there are 56,000 words and phrases covering American and British English, 75,000 examples, based on authentic language from the Longman Citation Corpus, and definitions using the Longman Defining Vocabulary of 2000 common words. IPA pronunciation is given of American and British English. In addition, there are language notes to explain appropriate use of language in context, usage notes to aid word choice and grammatical understanding, and grammar codes for recognition of grammatical patterns.
