Anotace
This curated volume is the result of an intensive study of women in education in Ontario. The objectives are: to tell the stories of the lives of women teachers; to challenge the myths, archetypes and stereotypes; analyze the diversity of women teachers with backgrounds of Aboriginal, Black, Immigrant, Francophone, and isolation; to explore how female teachers were shaped by ideological and structural constraints and resisted them, and how they exercised personal and local means as well as collective and provincial strategies in efforts to control and improve the conditions of their work.
