Anotace
Critiquing the principles of Chinese education and, by extension, other Asian educational philosophies, Tran Van Doan (philosophy, National Taiwan U.) argues more against the teaching of rigid and absolutist ideological education than against ideological education per se. He examines the definition of ideology in the European and Confucian philosophic traditions, exploring its application to education, especially as it developed in Maoist China and in Taiwan under Chiang Kai-shek. He recommends pursuing the goal of education as a dialectic of ideology and anti-ideology, turning to Rousseau's Emile as a basis for forming the philosophical foundations of the educational project.
