The level of difficulty and subject range of the texts also aims to help students prepare for professional exams such as the Diploma in Translation of the Institute of Linguists. The contents include a discussion of different approaches to the process of translation, together with a selection of source texts in French. Each source text features a suggested Target text, together with detailed annotations on the problems for translation posed by each text. The book aims to guide students towards the development of a systematic approach to the task of translation, through an increased awareness of potential problems and critical evaluation of suggested solutions to these problems.
