Anotace
Politically and intellectually, Ernst Troeltsch had a significant role to play in the early years of the Weirmar Republic. This volume presents 35 texts which document both Troeltsch's concern as a publicist with the new politicial, ecclesiastical and cultural order and his political role as a holder of parlimentary office for the German Democratic Party (Deutsche Demokratische Partei). In their breadth and comprehensiveness, the texts demonstrate how Troeltsch linked politics and philosophy to ground the systemic political change in Germany within the context of European cultural history. Here, Troelsch's intellectual signposts are open to a reading in the extreme controversies about the legitimacy of a democratic political order in German society.
