This work sets itself three objectives. Firstly, it aims to provide a general insight into the phenomenon of language in order to gain the reader's attention for this uniquely human ability; secondly, it sees itself not only as an introduction to language but also as an fully-fledged introduction to lingustics which deals with all branches of the subject, and thirdly, the readers should be motivated and sensitized to continue their studies of languages from a scientific standpoint on their own initiative.
