Anotace
The diverse aspects of Biological Motion were the central topic that attracted the participants of this Work-shop on Modeling, Analysis and Simulation. In various working groups they discussed movements paths and searching behavior, kinesis and/or taxis, cellular motion and shape changing, microtubuli and cilia motion, neuromotoric aspects of animal movement, collective behavior and swarming. The resulting contributions to the Proceedings, in part strongly influenced by these extensive and fruitful discussions, were rearranged and complemented by section overviews as well as "boxes" describing the basic mathematical methods. This makes the book a valuable reference for bio- mathematicians as well as for theoretically interested biologists, when trying to quantify motions of cells, organisms or parts of these.
