The intent of this work is to present the law concerning exclaustration, and to discuss the issues in the law; and to present observations on the practice in exclaustration cases, in order to see how the practice corresponds to or develops the law, and to see what purposes exclaustration is, in fact, serving. The discussion of the law includes procedures and forms in regard to the issuance of exclaustration indults and decrees which were used by the Congregation for the Institutes of Consecrated Life and the Societies of Apostolic Life in its cases assigned to the year 1988.
