Anotace

The main goal of this volume is to provide an up-to-date grounded review of the psychological and educational literature on thinking, problem solving and teaching thinking. Problem solving in mathematics, reading comprehension, text production and in our everyday lives are addressed in this volume. This volume covers most of the topics that traditionally form the foundation of the field, and includes several major approaches to development and education: the Piagetian and neo-Piagetian, information processing, learning, contextual and psychometric. Each of the chapters deal with one or two theoretical approaches to thinking, problem solving and/or teaching in programs, and most of the chapters include theoretical considerations, research and program proposals. This book can be read as an introduction to the study of thinking and problem solving in several areas. Due to the diversity of approaches, an introduction and concluding chapter are included to help tie the chapters together.
