Plant invasions are still a major issues, in ecological science, in public awareness, and in applied fields such as the conservation of biodiversity. This book builds on the material presented at the 4th International Conference on the Ecology of Invasive Alien Plants, Oct. 1-4, 1997 in Berlin. The flora of Central Europe is rich in non-native plant species, and the introduction and naturalization of plants has long been studied here. This book contains papers on case studies of single invaders, on general questions in invasion biology, and on control. Several papers focus on questions regarding the perception of invasion events.
