MÜLLER, Ivan. The time and place of origin of Glagolitic script. Brno: Moravian Museum, 2019. 115 stran.
Since its beginnings as ascience, that is since the early part of the 19th century, modern Slavic studies have grappled with the problem of the 'two alphabets', which eventually came to be known as Glagolitic and Cyrillic respectively. While the Glagolitic led abenign life in several northwestern Balkan provinces of the Catholic Church until the end of 19th century, when it was finally replaced by Latin, the Cyrillic alphabet became the ancestor of the modern scripts used by Russians, Ukrainians, Byelorussians, Bulgarians, Serbs, Macedonians and the Montenegrins. The alphabets based on Cyrillic were also used by the orthodox Romanians, by the languages of all the central Asian nations of the now defunct Soviet Union, by Mongolians, and for several years - in addition, of course, to their traditional characters - even by the Chinese, and by some other nations.
